Hola! Alexa Hampton of Adventures of a Twenty-Something here. For my first “official” post, I thought I’d give you guys a quick idea of who I am and what this is.
Adventures of a Twenty-Something is about enjoying the adventures, big and small, in your life, whether you are planning an African safari or trying a juice cleanse. It’s one part travel, one part lifestyle, one part healthy living, one part whatever else happens. It’s about having a humorous outlook on bad situations and seeing the adventure in everything.
And while I love all that, that’s actually not my favorite part.
Every Saturday morning, I will release a short scene from the book I’m working on fictionalizing my experience in Egypt (this is where Indiana Jones meets Bridget Jones kicks into overdrive). I’ve always dreamed of being a real author who writes real books, and releasing a scene each Saturday a) ensures that I actually keep writing and b) hopefully generates a little bit of interest in it!
Some of you might be thinking, wait, wait — I got here after clicking on a link from this girl I know, but who’s this Alexa Hampton?
Busted. Alexa Hampton isn’t my real name. I write for a large media organization by day, and I would be extraordinarily surprised if Adventures of a Twenty-Something ever became bigger — or ranked higher in Google — than it. Using my real name would make it that much harder for people to find this place, since it would inevitably only return search results from my real job.
My birth name isn’t a secret, I’m just trying trying to keep a little bit of space between the two worlds to give this place a better chance to grow. It’s also completely different than what I do all day, so I feel like a fun pseudonym is appropriate.
I have spent months getting this site exactly where I want it, and am so excited that it is all finally starting! For more information, you can check out the About section.
